Americans in Afghanistan to fight through 2014, top commander says
Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro Black/Gold The commander of NATO-led forces in Afghanistan bluntly warned Sunday that American soldiers will face combat in that war-torn country right up to the time they leave, December 31, 2014. General John Allen told reporters not to buy into a "narrative" that the handover of security responsibilities to Afghan forces next year means US troops will be out of harm's way."Combat operations will continue in the country throughout the period of the remainder of the ISAF mission, which will conclude on the 31st of December, 2014," Allen, who leads NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), said at a briefing on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Chicago. The diplomatic gathering aims to flesh out the alliance's plan to train and equip Afghan national security forces (ANSF) and given them the lead on combat efforts by mid-way through 2013. But that doesn't mean Americans won't be in the line of fire."I don't want to, again, understate the challenge that we have ahead of us. the Taliban is still a resilient and capable opponent in the battle space," Allen said. "There's no end of combat before the end of 2014. And in fact the Taliban will oppose the ANSF after 2014."

It was as emotional as it was controversial and possibly tainted.Munoz beat Candie Kung 2 and 1 on Sunday to win the Sybase Match Play Championship, a title that was set up when Morgan Pressel was penalized for slow play while in control of their semifinal match.Pressel was one of the first to hug and congratulate Munoz, her good friend, but she also had to be feeling this could have been her first win since 2008 just as easily. It all reverted to the morning semifinal in which Munoz and Pressel were both slow, although Munoz was admittedly a little slower. They were warned about slow play after nine holes and put on the clock after No. 11.The 12th hole changed everything. Pressel won it with a par to seemingly take a 3-up lead. However, before she could tee off on No. 13, tour official Doug Brecht informed her that she was being penalized for slow play. She had taken 2:09 to play her three shots, 39 seconds over the 30-second limit per shot.In match play, a time penalty is the loss of the previous hole and that handed the admittedly slow-playing Munoz the hole. She was 1-down and back in the match.

"You know, it was — I mean, it was really unfortunate."The time penalty was the first for Pressel in seven years on the tour and it left a very bad taste in her mouth, knowing Munoz was the slower player"I think that slow play is one of our biggest problems on tour," Pressel said. It's not an easy thing to deliver a pace of play penalty to a player in a situation like this."Daly-Donofrio said two other players have been penalized for slow play this year and five were penalized last year. Pressel was the only one disciplined in the tournament, although two others face fines for slow play. When asked about officials deciding events instead of the players, Daly-Donofrio said that USGA rules have to be upheld. Rule 6-7 says players must play without such delays and it's up to the tour to apply its policy.Daly-Donofrio said slow play is a concern throughout golf, which was evident on the PGA Tour last week when Kevin Na was very slow at The Players Championship. However the PGA Tour has not handed out a slow play stroke penalty in more than a decade.
Tupac Shakur would have turned 40 this year. (Google)Updated: In an exclusive interview with All Hip Hop, Dexter Isaac says that he shot and robbed rapper-actor Tupac Shakur during the infamous incident at Quad Studio in 1994. The incident in which Shakur was shot multiple times and robbed of jewelry has been played out in the media in multiple ways. Legendary rapper Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls, was in the studio when Shakur was shot and robbed. Shakur blamed Wallace for the attack, releasing a "dis record" entitled "Hit 'Em Up," featuring his group the Outlawz in 1996. This record was in response to Wallace's 1995 song "Who Shot Ya?" which he claimed he recorded prior to Shakur's incident at Quad Studio.
The shooting, on Nov. 30, was the start of a deadly feud that resulted in the murders of both Tupac Shakur and Biggie. Their murders have never been solved.
AllHipHop.com reports that Isaac came forward Wednesday (June 15) with the information on the eve of what would have been Shakur's 40th birthday. He confessed his involvement in the robbery of Shakur after James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond, CEO of Czar Entertainment, identified him in a statement relating to Rosemond's indictment for dealing numerous kilos of cocaine.
"I want to apologize to his family [Tupac Shakur] and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman]," Isaac told AllHiphop.com from prison. "I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie's] mothers some closure."
Isaac maintains that Rosemond hired him to rob and shoot Shakur. Rosemond, who is on the run from federal authorities, said in a May 2011 interview with AllHipHop.com that Isaac "ratted" on him to federal authorities. Isaac, who is serving a life sentence plus 30 years, denied the claim, deciding to come forward with the information on Shakur's 1994 shooting. He also claims that he is in possession of a necklace that was stolen from Shakur on the night of the incident as proof of his involvement.
Can you say, "Too much, too little, too late"? Shakur is dead, largely because of a East Coast-West Coast beef that started over this incident involving Rosemond and Isaac. Isaac says that he's coming forward to help the mothers of Shakur and Wallace, but if that was his intention, he could have done it long ago. He's in prison for life plus 30 years, so there was nothing stopping him, especially since the statute of limitations has passed on the crime.
He confessed to get back at Rosemond for muddying his name. Why else would he offer this information on the eve of what would have been Tupac's 40th birthday? Now all eyes are on Isaac instead of Shakur.
Whatever the case, how sad and ridiculous is it that two extremely talented men are dead because of what Rosemond and Isaac started? Sitting idly by and letting this feud escalate to the point where two iconic rappers are dead is unconscionable. In the case of what happened at Quad Studio, we guess it really is true: You should believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.
Marion "Suge" Knight. Photograph: Gregg DeGuire/WireImageIt was not just a battle between east and west coast, but between two types of hustle. The rough, in the form of Compton-born Marion "Suge" Knight, a failed American footballer whose intimidating physique and links to street crime became an asset while running gangsta rap label Death Row Records. And the smooth, epitomised by Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, suburban New Yorker and founder of the Bad Boy label, a marketing genius with an ego even bigger than his mouth.
Both sought to dominate hip-hop as it went mainstream in the mid-90s. Their respective rosters were home to rival talents – Dr Dre, Snoop and Tupac on Death Row, Biggie Smalls on Bad Boy – but the Californians took their allotted role a little too seriously. In 1992, Knight pistol-whipped, then threatened to kill, aspiring rappers George and Lynwood Stanley, for using a studio phone while he was expecting a call.
Chart rivalry and lyrical pot shots gave way to escalating threats, with Tupac and Biggie murdered within six months of each other in 1996 and 97. It's a sign of the chaos of the era that both killings remain unsolved. Long-term, Combs's business acumen won out, with Knight ending up in prison and bankrupt. But, for a while, criminality paid.
